Job Summary
Lake Martin Community Hospital is seeking a dedicated and skilled Full-time Surgical Technologist to join our full-time team in a dynamic hospital environment.
-Day Shift position. Hours may vary M-F.
-Pay is to be determined based off experience.
The ideal candidate will support surgical procedures by preparing operating rooms, sterilizing instruments, and assisting surgical teams to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes. This role requires a strong understanding of sterile techniques, anatomy, and hospital protocols, particularly within high-acuity settings.
Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms with sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment prior to surgical procedures.
- Assist surgeons and nursing staff during surgeries by passing instruments and maintaining a sterile field.
- Ensure all surgical instruments are properly sterilized and maintained according to infection control standards.
- Collect and document data related to surgical procedures, patient vitals, and intraoperative observations using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic.
- Monitor patient vital signs and physiological responses during surgery to support patient safety.
- Maintain accurate medical records related to surgical procedures and patient care activities.
- Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols throughout all phases of patient care.
- Assist with suturing, wound management, and other intraoperative tasks as needed.
- Support emergency procedures in trauma or critical care settings by providing timely assistance with acute care needs.
- Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams in hospital medicine, critical care, pediatrics, and ambulatory surgery environments.
Requirements
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist with current credentials.
- Proven experience working in OR environments(required).
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and infection control practices.
- Proficiency in handling EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or similar hospital information systems.
- Hands-on experience with aseptic techniques, suturing, vital signs monitoring, and basic life support (BLS).
- Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure situations requiring acute care skills.
- Excellent analysis skills for data collection and intraoperative decision-making.
