Position Overview: Performs x-rays for diagnostic purposes. Follows established radiologic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety. Candidate should have a thorough understanding of imaging equipment, x-ray procedures and have solid communication skills.
Essential Job Functions
- Prepare patients for radiologic procedures. Escort patients to dressing and x-ray rooms, provide verbal and/or written instructions and assist patients in positioning body parts to be radiographed.
- Operates radiologic equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes. Position equipment and adjust controls to specific exam/
- Uses radiation safety measures and protection devices to ensure safety of patients and team members.
- Perform related administrative duties including completing necessary forms.
- Retrieves radiologic orders and inputs data into hospital and radiology systems.
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills on all fronts
- Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
- Ability to work with patients of all ages (infant to geriatric).
- Graduate of an accredited radiology program.
- National registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
- CPR Certification
- Must be willing and able to work as part of a team.
Working Conditions
- Work week may vary Sunday through Saturday.
- Frequently exposed to noise and regular flow of hospital patients.
- Subject to stress, frustration and fatigue
- Maybe subjected to verbal abuse by patients and family.
- Work is of medium physical demand, requiring bending, lifting, stooping, stretching and walking. Frequent moving and lifting of patients is required.
