Job Summary: Responsible for providing timely and courteous service to patients, physicians, and hospital staff by collecting satisfactory blood specimens from patients. Responsible for collecting and processing all specimen types, as well as preparation of reference lab specimens. Must be proficient in all methods of phlebotomy collection (including arterial), as well as the use of waived testing; being able to test specified patient samples once competent. Must be able to competently perform urine drug screens for post-accident, DOT, and pre-employment upon completion of training.

- Successfully collect specimens from all patient populations (pediatric, adult, geriatric, special needs, and critically ill).
- Be reliable and have consistent transportation.
- Be able to work well with others in a team setting as well as having positive interactions with patients and all hospital staff.
- Competently perform waived testing (flu, covid, strep, mono, urine pregnancy, UDS) in an efficient and timely manner.
- Correctly collect urine drug screen specimens and accurately complete chain of custody paperwork.
- Accurately fulfill test orders from incoming requisitions by ordering, collecting, and preparing samples.
- Order, prepare, and organize reference lab specimens for pickup and testing in accordance with the policy.
Requirements: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. One year phlebotomy experience and a certification awarded by ASCP, ASPT, or NCA.
Preferred: Experience with waived testing, various sample types (urine, stool, etc), urine drug screen testing, and processing reference lab samples in addition to phlebotomy experience.
