Position Overview:    Responsible for assisting Hospice Director in planning the Marketing of the Lake Martin Hospice and in the Admission of patients to the program; will maintain a positive public contact in the community; will expand referral source to positively impact Lake Martin Hospice’s census.

Qualifications:           

  1. High School diploma or equivalent
  2. Registered Nurse
  3. Would prefer certification in hospice and palliative care
  4. Would prefer at least 1 – 3 years’ experience in Hospice or 2 – 4 year marketing degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  5. Must possess strong communication and presentation skills.

  • All Lake Martin Hospice standards for marketing and admissions are met.
  • Interviews prospective residents and records information to ascertain needs and qualifications are met.
  • Maintains detailed customer database in order to stay in close contact with potential Lake Martin Hospice referrals.
  • Maintains close contacts with physicians’ offices/hospitals/ALF/NH and other referral sources for potential Hospice referrals as needed.
  • Work closely with your supervisor to establish new referral sources on a weekly basis.
  • Establish strategic marketing plans to guide efforts in achieving Lake Martin Hospice census’s objectives.
  • Ensure effective control of marketing results and takes corrective action to guarantee that achievement of marketing objectives falls within designated guidelines.
  • Effectively educates medical community regarding Lake Martin Hospice guidelines to gain appropriate referrals.
  • Manages marketing operating budget to assure spending is at or below budgetary guidelines.
  • Plans and oversees (with supervisors’ approval) advertising and promotional activities including print, online, electronic, media, and direct mail.
  • Establishes and maintains a consistent Lake Martin Hospice image throughout the community and with promotional materials and special events held or sponsored by the Lake Martin Hospice.
  • Oversees and evaluates marketing through research and adjusts marketing strategy to meet a changing market and competitive conditions. Monitors competitive services and marketing activities of other competitors in the area to assure the Lake Martin Hospice remains competitive in the community.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers and key community and strategic partners. Serves as a liaison with outside agencies/referral sources to create goodwill for the Lake Martin Hospice and educate those outside agencies referral sources on Lake Martin Hospice’s services.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patients’ health information.
  • Other duties as assigned and which may relate to field work in the care of Lake Martin Hospice patient’s, comfort, and happiness as assigned by your supervisor.
  • Follow up on all referrals, admitting the referral as appropriate.  If unable to admit, provide appropriate documentation and give referral to be entered into the system as a non-admit.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Administrator.
  • Represents a caring, friendly and professional attitude to the patient/family or public that he/she has contact with.
  • Follows established hospital policies and infection control program.
  • Assumes responsibility for self-improvement by attendance at in-service classes, staff meetings and education related to personal growth and departmental needs.
  • Participates in the on call rotation of the nursing staff and assists with day to day nursing activities as needed

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to communicate and understand and carry out detailed oral and written instructions.
  • Must be organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to walk and stand frequently.
  • Interpersonal skills required to instruct patients and their families, as well as, professional interaction with a variety of hospital personnel.
  • Knowledge of patient rights and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of Company’s services and availability.
  • Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures, fire, safety, disaster plans and infection control policies.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • May be exposed to all types of weather, including inclement weather, rain, etc
  • Frequent telephone activity.
  • Work requires standing and walking frequently.
  • Work requires traveling throughout the county and surrounding counties for marketing purposes.
  • Work may require listening and/or speaking with individuals and groups.
  • Work is of medium physical demand, frequently requiring bending, lifting, stooping, stretching and walking (frequently means up to 75% of the time)
  • Work requires hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Subject to a fast paced, high stressed routine.
  • Possible bio-hazard exposure to communicable diseases.
  • Minimal exposure to infectious disease while performing job related tasks.
